Daddy Daughter Dates

With three kids it's hard to spend quality one-on-one time with them. Trent and I decided that it was important for the kids and us as parents to spend that one-on-one time together so that we can continue to have great relationships with our kids as they grow up. We thought it would be fun to do something fun and special for each child about once month. Ashlyn was the first to go on a date with Trent. We told her that she could choose to go anywhere that she wanted. Where did she choose to go? McDonalds! So Trent took her to McDonalds, but he took her to one that has a really nice aquarium in it, so that it would be special. They had a great time. Ashlyn was especially excited that Trent bought her a milkshake!
The next weekend it was Avery's turn to choose where she wanted to go. She insisted that she wanted to go to 7 Eleven and buy a treat. (Convenience stores have become very exciting for our kids because we usually only go to them when we are travelling to see the Grandmas and Grandpas) Luckily we talked her out of that, but her second choice was none other than... McDonalds. She was so excited for her date. She had to wear a skirt, and a pink bow in her hair so that she could be pretty for daddy.

I love how the simplest things in life can bring such joy and happiness to a child. And by the way, Ashlyn is already planning our Mommy daughter date. I suggested frozen yogurt and she suggested... Wendy's. (What is it with my kids and fast food?)
