This was our first 4th of July in years that we haven't been on vacation. We were pretty sad that we weren't in Montana with the rest of the family, but we had a great time here at home. First thing in the morning we went to a parade. It was a lot of fun. I don't think I have ever been that hot at 9:00 a.m. before.
We didn't know it, but we had sat in the 'wet zone' of the parade. The last 1/4 of the parade is one big water fight. People had big garbage cans full of water, huge squirt guns, water balloons, etc. We stayed out of the line of fire, but it sure was fun to watch.
Blake had his first taste of popsicle. He loved it or course.
After the parade we went home to rest. Later that evening we went over to our good friends, the Phillipy's, house. We had a great time and ate some really good food.
After dinner we headed out for a fantastic firework show. This was one of the best shows I have seen. The fireworks were right over our heads and it felt like they were falling down on us at some points.
Blake loved the fireworks. He kept saying "oh, oh, oh". It was too cute.
After the show it was very late. Avery was very grumpy and it took a little bit of convincing to get her to stop crying. Finally she stopped and we began to walk out of the park and to our car. All of a sudden we hear a big loud thump and Avery started to scream. Some people amidst the big crowd of people were playing football and the ball hit Avery right smack in the back of her head. Poor thing. Trent and I ended up carrying her all the way back to the car.
Despite the football to the head we had a great time with friends. We missed our family, but it's nice to know that we have great friends here. All in all it was a wonderful day.

Being with extended family during the holidays is always fun, but building your own memories with your little family is extra special. Looks like you had a great time with fun photos for remembrance.
Very cute and festive pictures of the kids! That totally stinks about poor little Avery getting hit w/ that football! Glad you had a fun 4th.

We missed you guys, but it looks like you had a great holiday. I can't believe how much Blake looks like Trent's baby pictures in these latest photos. Your family is too cute!!!!
Poor Avery! It makes me kind-of laugh because I could see the same thing going on with my own kids. Looks like you guys had a great 4th.
